Russians remain Turkey’s top homebuyers, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute for the January-May period, despite the fact that overall home sales to foreigners in Turkey plummeted by 38 % in the first five months of the year due to the increase in prices. Antalya, which since the start of the war in Ukraine has become the new Mecca for Russians seeking exile from their country, topped the list as the favourite destination for home purchases by foreigners, with 6,446 properties sold in the first 5 months of May; it was closely followed by Istanbul, with 5,329 homes sold.
