Thodex cryptocurrency platform owner detained

Owner of a cryptocurrency platform arrested after fleeing to Albania

Faruk Fatih Özer, owner of the Thodex cryptocurrency platform who fled Turkey last year with $2 billion from almost 400,000 investors, and who had an international search and arrest warrant with Interpol, has finally been arrested in Albania. Özer attracted thousands of investors with aggressive advertising with famous models, giving away luxury cars and offering cryptocurrencies at 25% of their market price. Turkey is one of the largest cryptocurrency markets in the world: it is estimated that there are about 5 million Turkish investors in cryptocurrency, thus seeking to avoid the effects of inflation and the devaluation of the lira.
