Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar strengthens its structure against earthquakes

The Grand Bazaar (Kapalıçarşı, in Turkish) of Istanbul, one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world with 559 years of history, has started the works to reinforce its structure in the face of a great intensity earthquake, works that will be concluded in 18 months, as announced by the president of the administrative board of the Grand Bazaar, Fatih Kurtulmuş, who points out that in case of an earthquake the building has 21 doors through which people could quickly evacuate the place.
