The decrease in rainfall has caused the level of the dams that supply water to Istanbul, Turkey’s largest city with 16 million inhabitants, to be at their lowest level in the last decade, since they are only at 26.34% of its capacity. The situation is critical in reservoirs such as Sazlıdere, which supplies the European part of the city and is at less than 6% of its capacity. If rain does not arrive, the current reserves can guarantee the water supply for 2 months, but there are already experts who warn of the risk of restrictions.
