Turkey’s severe drought is leaving unusual scenes in many dams, where water reserves are at historic lows, in some cases at only 5% of their capacity. Scientists say Turkey is experiencing its worst drought in the last decade, with a 50% drop in rainfall and snow. Climate change, but also excess of urbanisation and intensive irrigation, are behind the decline in water reserves.
