Istanbul voted among the best cities to live in and visit in Europe

Istanbul has been chosen among the best cities to live, visit or invest in Europe in the ranking prepared each year by the Canadian company Resonance Consultancy, which details which cities on the old continent offer the best standards of well-being and quality of life.

The ranking, which takes into account dozens of factors including – among many others – opportunities to study or work, nightlife, rental prices, airport connections and even opinions on websites such as Tripadvisor, has been published on the WorldsBestCities.com website, which in this case carries out a complete study of 180 European cities.

For the second year in a row, the top city in the ranking of the best European cities to live in is London: the British capital tops 12 of the 27 categories analysed, standing out for the extent of its transport network or its new restaurants, but also in categories such as culture or education. The Top 10 ranking of the best cities in Europe, which also includes two Spanish cities, is as follows:

  1. London (United Kingdom)
  2. Paris (France)
  3. Berlin (Germany)
  4. Rome (Italy)
  5. Madrid (Spain)
  6. Prague (Czech Republic)
  7. Barcelona (Spain)
  8. Amsterdam (The Netherlands)
  9. Istanbul (Turkey)
  10. Milan (Italy)

With regard to Istanbul, the Resonance ranking places the Turkish metropolis – the largest city not only in Turkey, but in Europe – among the 9th best cities to live in Europe, highlighting its quality as a tourist destination and its ranking in 4th place for outdoor activities, thanks to the recent renovations carried out to celebrate the 100 years of the Republic.

Istanbul also ranks 6th in Europe for its museums, with Resonance also highlighting investments in the new luxury cruise terminal , Galataport. While the city ranks 6th for its low rental costs, it is negatively highlighted that rents have soared 77.6% in the last year due to inflation, negatively affecting local residents. Istanbul also stands out among Europe’s best cities to live in or visit because of major investments in its transport infrastructure, with new high-speed rail links and an expansion of Istanbul Airport planned for the end of this decade.
