A project launched by the Istanbul municipal authorities will implement in 3 months a system of illuminated signs in taxis to inform users. The sign will show the word dolu (occupied) in red if the taxi is already travelling with passengers, boş (free) in green if it is unoccupied, or rezerve (reserved). It can also activate an SOS message in case of danger. The aim is to put an end to the cheats by some city taxi drivers who “choose” travellers based on their journey.
