99 passengers were injured as a result of a head-on collision between two metrobuses that occurred late on Friday in the Avcılar district, west of Istanbul; after the initial collision, two other metrobuses that came behind also collided with the first two, creating a scene of real chaos with many injured that had to be transferred to nearby hospitals. Thousands of people use the metrobus service every day to commute in Istanbul; however, since the first lines in the city began to operate in 2007, the metrobuses have been criticized for always being crowded (especially during rush hours) and for suffering numerous accidents.
