The first plane landed on Saturday at the new Rize-Artvin airport, built on the rugged eastern shore of the Black Sea and inaugurated that same day by Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan. With a capacity of 3 million passengers per year, it is the 2nd airport built by reclaiming land from the sea in Turkey and the 5th in the world, for which it was necessary to use 100 million tons of rocks.
