Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan has stated that a condition for Turkey to approve Sweden’s entry into NATO is that the Nordic country prohibits protests that sympathizers or militants of the PKK terrorist group freely hold on Swedish territory, according to what Erdoğan told the Secretary General of the Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, in a phone call that both had on Sunday to talk about the coup attempt in Russia. “Turkey maintains its constructive stance regarding the entry of Sweden, but the legislative reforms (made by Sweden) would be useless as long as PKK/YPG sympathizers freely organize demonstrations in that country,” Erdoğan said just weeks before the vital NATO summit in Vilnius.
