Attempts to restore the 12,000-year-old glacial lake that was destroyed late last year in northeast Turkey have failed, experts say. The lake was emptied by a legend that claimed to hide the treasure of a Roman legion, at the request of treasure hunters. Finally nothing was found, and although authorities have filled the lake with water, biologists claim that its structure has been irreparably damaged and that it is now nothing more than an artificial lake. Thus, one of the rare glacial lakes in Turkey can be considered extinct.
