History, conquest of Constantinople

569 years since the conquest of Istanbul by the Turks

Turkey celebrated on May 29 the 569th anniversary of the 1453 conquest of Istanbul by the Ottoman Turks: a historic event that marked the end of the thousand-year-old Byzantine Empire and the beginning of another empire that would claim to be its successor, the Ottoman Empire. This impressive drone-view video traces the route used by Sultan Mehmet II to transport 72 galleys overland to the Golden Horn estuary, during the final siege of ancient Constantinople.
