A total of 15 people were arrested during an operation against radical Islamism carried out in Istanbul. Members of Turkish police’s counter-terrorism units carried out simultaneous surprise raids on a total of 12 addresses in 8 districts of Istanbul, arresting 15 suspected of links to the Daesh and Al-Qaeda terrorist groups. Daesh (self-proclaimed Islamic State) is responsible for more than twenty terror attacks in Turkey, 10 of them with suicide bombers, which have caused at least 315 deaths in recent years.
