At least one person died and 44 others were injured after a powerful tornado affected the town of Pazarcık in the province of Kahramanmaraş, in southeastern Turkey. It so happens that this town had already been largely devastated as it was the epicenter of the powerful 7.8 earthquake that devastated the region on February 6, causing more than 50,000 deaths. Precisely the tornado that occurred yesterday destroyed many tents and containers built as temporary homes for the survivors of the earthquake, although its force was such that it also tore off the roofs of many houses that had been left standing, even causing some cars and trucks to overturn. As reported by the Turkish authorities, some 170 emergency tents were damaged, and at least 8 of the injured are in serious condition.
