The provincial directorate of culture and tourism in Antalya, southern Turkey, has filed a criminal complaint against a newly opened club in Side next to the ruins of the ancient temple of Apollo and Athena. The place, previously a restaurant, was inaugurated 3 days ago under the name “Apollon” and, despite warnings from the authorities, opened an entrance that connects with the ruins as its main door, making it appear that the ruins are part of the club and forcing customers to pass through them to enter the premises. In addition to being completely illegal, experts and archaeologists denounce that the lights and sound pose a risk to the conservation of the historic ruins.
