Tears and many moments of emotion were experienced during the funeral held yesterday for the famous Turkish actor Ferhan Şensoy, star of theatre and cinema as well as director and playwright, who died on August 31 at the age of 70 in a hospital in Istanbul due to various health problems. Şensoy studied theatre in France and Canada, where he was widely recognised for his talent; in 1975 he returned to Turkey, where he acted representing many of the plays that he himself wrote, standing out as author of comedies. He was buried after a tribute and a funeral attended by hundreds of people, with his coffin covered by the flag of Turkey and that of Galatasaray, the neighbourhood where he grew up and studied in his early years.
