Heavy rains hit northwestern Turkey and Istanbul on Thursday afternoon, causing severe floods that flooded houses and shops and havoc in traffic, trapping many drivers. The floods especially affected districts like Bağcılar or Küçükçekmece, just outside the European side of Istanbul. Weather forecasters warn that heavy precipitation could also occur this Friday.
