Mete Gazoz, first gold medal in the Olympics, returns to Turkey

Mete Gazoz, Turkey’s first gold medallist at the Tokyo Olympics, was greeted on arrival at Istanbul airport like a hero with cheers and applause. Gazoz, 22, won the gold medal at the Olympics on Saturday in the individual archery competition, after beating Italian Mauro Nespoli by 4-6, thus obtaining the first gold medal for his country. “Never give up, there is nothing impossible,” said the medallist in Istanbul addressing other young people like him.
