This Friday, the obligation to sterilise and register all dangerous dog breeds in Turkey comes into force. Its owners will be obliged to implant a chip in the animal, which must always wear a muzzle when going outside and cannot access to places where children play. The regulation, which is part of the new animal abuse law that came into force last year, also provides heavy fines for those who abandon, sell, cross or traffic with these dogs. To date, about 21,000 dogs of dangerous breeds have already been registered throughout Turkey.
