Fenerbahçe managed to come back from a goal down and end up winning against the 2nd placed team in the Turkish league, Konyaspor, in the last game of the round 30 of the Süper Lig played yesterday Sunday at the Ülker Istanbul stadium.
The visiting team’s Kosovar striker Zymer Bytyqi opened the scoring after 35 minutes of play, taking advantage of a poor reception by the Canaries goalkeeper, Altay Bayındır: the goal was conceded by the referee, despite numerous protests from Fenerbahçe players alleging that the goal was null.
Already in the second half of the match, Fener’s South Korean defender Kim Min-jae managed to equalise by shooting under the sticks after a free kick on the edge of the rival area. Finally, and with only 2 minutes remaining in the official time, the Greek midfielder Dimitris Pelkas scored the winning goal with a beautiful shot practically from the penalty spot.
With this victory, Fenerbahçe now has 53 points in 30 games and consolidates its position as third in the table, 4 points ahead of Alanyaspor and only 2 points behind Konyaspor. Trabzonspor remains the undisputed leader of the Turkish league despite being beaten 3-2 in Rize on Friday. Meanwhile, Domènec Torrent’s Galatasaray, recently eliminated by Barça from the Europa League and who defeated Beşiktaş in the Istanbul derby last week, also lost 3-1 in Gaziantep and drops to 15th place.
