Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan received on Thursday the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine developed by Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac, of which Turkey has bought 50 million doses. “I have also been vaccinated,” Erdoğan wrote in a message on social media. As the Turkish president explained to journalists present at the Ankara hospital where he was vaccinated, some 256,000 people have already received the COVID-19 vaccine since mass vaccination began yesterday in Turkey; most of them are health workers.
