Muhammed Cafer Çetin, an 18-year-old boy, was rescued today in Adıyaman, southeastern Turkey, after being trapped for 198 hours (more than 8 days) in the rubble in the basement of a 6-storey building that collapsed after the earthquakes. After 3 hours of work, a team made up of miners from Zonguldak, emergency personnel from the UMKE and AFAD, members of the gendarmerie, and rescuers from Taiwan, opened a tunnel and managed to get him out alive. After the rescue, and amid the joy and tears of his rescuers, Muhammed was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where his state of health is good. 8 days after the earthquakes that devastated SE Turkey, rescue teams have not given up hope of finding more people alive.
