Although in Europe our main concern is the coronavirus, in East Africa, the Middle East and South Asia, its biggest problem for weeks is an immense plague of locusts of proportions not seen in decades that is devastating crops and vegetation, and that seriously threatens the food supply of at least 30 million people. A single swarm of locusts can contain 6 billion members who eat the equivalent of 3.5 million people in one day. Due to the heat, their numbers do not stop growing, and it is feared that they may even reach Turkey.
