An earthquake of 6.6 degrees intensity (other information raises it to 7 degrees on the Richter scale) shook the İzmir province on the west coast of Turkey on Friday, causing the collapse of at least 20 buildings in the city and even a small tsunami in the Aegean. For now, it is unknown how many victims the earthquake has caused, which had its epicentre in the north of the Greek island of Samos and also caused minor damage in other neighbouring provinces, and could even be felt in Istanbul; authorities have asked the population to stay away from the buildings if they observe any damage.
