A school bus transporting a group of children to school yesterday crashed down a 300-meter cliff in the Sason district of Batman province, southeast Turkey, killing a girl and a boy (both brothers) and wounding 27 others. It was the inhabitants of a nearby village who, upon hearing the news, first came to help the wounded, 5 of whom are in critical condition. Police are now investigating why the driver, who was also injured, lost control of the vehicle.
