Our story
Hispanatolia is a communication project that was formally launched on 2 July 2007 thanks to the support offered at the time by the Turkish Embassy in Spain, although it should be noted that the website also had the backing and collaboration of the Spanish Embassy in Turkey.

In 2011, the project renewed its website and became independent, and the head of the Spanish edition of the portal, Pablo Gómez, a person with a great knowledge of Turkey and with long experience in the media, also married to a Turkish citizen, took over the management of the website. Three years later, in 2014, the portal closes its Turkish edition to focus on its Spanish edition.

From being a portal initially focused solely on Spanish-Turkish relations, over the years hispanatolia.com has evolved into a Spanish-language thematic newspaper focusing on Turkey and its region of influence, including the Balkans, the Caucasus, the Middle East and Central Asia (although information on Turkey remains the web’s main subject), and covering relations not only with Spain but also with Latin America.
Precisely, and in order to expand the geographical area of our readers, at the end of 2023 Hispanatolia revamped its website and began publishing an English edition.

Our purpose
Our aim is to bring Turkey, its current affairs and its reality closer to the non-Turkish public, overcoming barriers (language, geography, culture, etc.) and existing prejudices, and contributing to strengthening the growing political, cultural, economic and other ties between all the English-speaking world (including UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and beyond) and Turkey.
As an Internet news portal, hispanatolia.com has always been characterised by offering information from a totally different point of view to that of other media, thanks to the experience and real, first-hand knowledge we have of the Turkish world, which is our hallmark, and which has made Hispanatolia a reference website for information about Turkey.
How we work
Throughout all these years many people have collaborated with the project by contributing with their work and ideas: it would be impossible to mention all their names here, but we would like to thank them for all their help, without which Hispanatolia would not be the same today.
Our current team includes both people who collaborate by writing content for the portal and those who perform other support tasks necessary for its operation. Because of our philosophy and values, and after a careful reflection, we have concluded that it is more honest and transparent to our readers to sign as a team and not with individual names, given that in the vast majority of our content the work is joint and cannot be attributed to a single person.
This approach better reflects the reality of how we work, and also reinforces our vision as a team as opposed to unnecessary individualistic objectives, that we have never sought. In any case, all contents are published always under the supervision of our editor-in-chief: Pablo Gómez, who is responsible for guaranteeing the quality and veracity of the information.

If you would like to contribute your bit to this project, remember that you can support Hispanatolia: thanks for your help!!
