Unemployment in Turkey continues to record good figures in the Eurasian country, and stood at its lowest level in 11 years, according to the latest data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), which indicates that unemployment stood at 8.5% of the labour force in October, the lowest figure since November 2012.
According to the report prepared by TÜİK, the number of unemployed in Turkey fell by 163,000 from September to stand at 2.96 million in October, with the unemployment rate standing at 7% among men and 11.3% among women. For its part, the country’s labour force stood at 34.8 million people, of whom 31.8 million were working in October, with the employment rate reaching 48.5% (3 tenths higher than in September). Also, youth unemployment (for the 15-24 age group) fell from September to October from 16.7% to 16.3%.
