Up to eight cars were involved in a serious multiple-collision accident in Levent, a central business district in the Beşiktaş district on the European side of Istanbul. The incident occurred when a van travelling at high speed lost control and crashed into the median, entering the oncoming lane.
The high force collision left the van severely damaged and mounted on two vehicles. A total of eight vehicles were damaged to varying degrees, while numerous Istanbul emergency crews, including police, firefighters and ambulances, were sent to the scene. At least eight people were injured in the accident, which was caught on camera, and two people had to be taken to hospital. Turkish media reported that a luxury Maserati car involved in the accident belongs to the nephew of a deputy of the Turkish National Assembly.
