The Turkish coronavirus vaccine Turkovac has received approval for emergency use against the COVID-19 pandemic. Developed and produced in a laboratory in Şanlıurfa province, southeast Turkey, it is an inactivated vaccine that will be used as a booster dose; in tests conducted on thousands of volunteers, the Turkish vaccine has been shown to be capable of boosting antibody levels, preventing severe coronavirus symptoms and hospitalisation, without causing significant side effects in those vaccinated.
