Afghanistan, Turkish citizens evacuated from Kabul

Turkey continues evacuating its citizens amid chaos in Kabul

Turkey continues evacuating its citizens from Afghanistan amid scenes of chaos at the Kabul airport, where hundreds of Afghans wait trying to catch a plane out of the country after the Taliban seized power. Turkey is one of the few countries that maintains its embassy in Kabul; Ankara has said it is ready to recognise the new Afghan government, after the country’s previous president fled to Abu Dhabi without offering resistance; but the Turkish government insists that it will act in line with the international community before making a decision: “We have to see if they (the Taliban) are really going to create an inclusive government or not,” said the Turkish foreign minister.
