Turkey continues evacuating its citizens from Afghanistan amid scenes of chaos at the Kabul airport, where hundreds of Afghans wait trying to catch a plane out of the country after the Taliban seized power. Turkey is one of the few countries that maintains its embassy in Kabul; Ankara has said it is ready to recognise the new Afghan government, after the country’s previous president fled to Abu Dhabi without offering resistance; but the Turkish government insists that it will act in line with the international community before making a decision: “We have to see if they (the Taliban) are really going to create an inclusive government or not,” said the Turkish foreign minister.
