Protests in Cyprus's borders due to coronavirus

Tension grows in Cyprus after closure of borders because of coronavirus

Far from easing, the protests initiated on Saturday by Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot citizens over the decision of the Greek government of Cyprus to unilaterally close the border to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, continued on Monday; Turkish protesters shouted slogans in favor of the reunification of Cyprus and against the presence of UN soldiers. The biggest moment of tension occurred when the blue helmets tried to intervene on the Turkish Cypriot side of the border, and after several warnings were pushed away by the Turkish Cypriot police to the neutral zone.
