Images recorded by a Turkish Navy drone captured how Greek coastguards aboard the LS-930 ship abandon a group of immigrants in the Aegean Sea, pushing them towards Turkish waters, which also constitutes a violation of its territorial waters: a practice illegal but usual denounced for years by the Ankara authorities. Later, they were able to be safely rescued by a Turkish coastguard ship. According to data from the Turkish Ombudsman, Greece has “returned” more than 42,000 asylum seekers to Turkey since 2020.
