Ukrainian troops were received today among cheers and tears by the population of Kherson, after the Russian front collapsed in the last 24 hours after Russia announced the withdrawal of its troops west of the Dnieper River. Ukrainian military sources have confirmed control over the strategic city, located less than 100 km from the Crimean peninsula, and have asked all Russian soldiers in the area (many dressed as civilians by order of their commanders, unable to leave on time) to turn themselves over to the authorities.
