Not even the surprise defeat of the league leader, Sivasspor, has served so that Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş and Galatasaray can ascend positions in a Super League that is more close than ever.
Despite the surprise 5-1 defeat of the league leader, Sivasspor, against the modest Gaziantep FK, the three great clubs of the Turkish Super League are still unable to establish a stable place in the top five places of the classification in a Süper Lig more fierce than ever, which seems to have sentenced the end of the dominance of the great clubs of Istanbul.
The current league champion, the Galatasaray, managed to prevail by a forceful 4-1 to the Kayserispor in the match played on Sunday afternoon at the Türk Telekom Arena and thus reap his fourth consecutive victory, thanks to the two goals of the Algerian Sofia midfielder Feghouli as well as two others marked by Adem Büyük and the Dutchman Ryan Donk.
The win of the Galatasaray against the bottom team of the league hardly serves however to make up the irregular game of the team in this season, where it has barely approached the top positions in recent months and has even come to occupy positions in the middle from the table; even after this victory and after the hit of the Sivasspor, it remains 5 points behind the leader.
Trabzonspor defeats Fenerbahçe and moves him away from the top positions
For his part, Fenerbahçe, who has been saving the glory of the three big clubs after a past season in which he paradoxically came to occupy bottom positions, could not be successful this time and was defeated on Saturday by 2-1 against a direct rival in the classification, Trabzonspor, in a match in which Brazil’s Luiz Gustavo also won a red in 95th minute for arguing with the referee.
The result allows the Black Sea Storm to ascend to the third place while the Yellow Canaries fall from the 2nd position to the 5th with 37 points. With regard to Beşiktaş, whose poor results also this season have led the board to fire coach Abdullah Avcı, managed to beat the modest Caykur Rizespor away from home with goals from Yılmaz and Gönül, but remains 7th and 8 points behind the lead in the league.
