Turkey, bride denounces forced marriage

Bride calls police to be saved from forced marriage

A bride just 19 years old who was about to get married in Adana province, southern Turkey, called police asking to be saved from what she denounced as a forced marriage. Agents immediately rushed to the scene and arrested her mother, accused of forcing her to marry a man. Although the family insists that the wedding is not forced and that the couple will live in Istanbul, the young woman asked to be transferred to a women’s shelter to avoid marriage.
