At least six people died and around ten were injured as a result of a terrible road accident in the province of Van, in eastern Turkey, in which a bus full of passengers collided with a truck on the motorway.
Turkish media reported that the accident occurred on the motorway connecting the towns of Gürpınar and Başkale, near the Güzeldere Tunnel, when a minibus full of passengers collided head-on, for reasons still under investigation, with a truck travelling in the opposite lane.
After the emergency services were alerted via 112, numerous ambulances quickly arrived at the scene, as well as gendarmerie personnel, who provided first aid to the accident victims before transferring them to hospitals in the region.
The identities of the drivers are not yet known. However, according to the latest information, at least six people have died and 13 others have been injured as a result of the serious accident. In a statement, the governor of Van province, Ozan Balcı, confirmed that four of the injured are in serious condition and that all of them have been taken to hospitals in Van.
