An oddly designed building constructed as a business centre in the southern Turkish city of Kahramanmaraş has gained international fame by being ranked #1 by Google for the “world’s most ridiculous building” search. Opened in 1994, the shape was supposed to mimic ice cream (Kahramanmaraş’s most famous product), but its final design looked nothing like it and was filled with meaningless columns taking up most of the space. In 2011 they tried to sell it but found no buyers. Finally the mayor has announced that it will be demolished and replaced by a public square, a decision welcomed by many citizens.
