What could have been a disaster and tragedy fortunately ended in something not so serious when two trains avoided a head-on collision in Tuzla, outside Istanbul, by just some inches. It was the expertise of the driver of a passenger train travelling between Sakarya and Pendik that avoided the crash at the last second, when upon entering the Tersane station (Tuzla), he found a high-speed train parked on the same track. Despite activating the emergency brakes, the deflectors of both trains hit each other, causing the impact to cause some minor injuries among passengers, but without major consequences. Now an investigation must be opened into why two trains going in opposite directions were on the same track. The event is very similar to the accident that in 2018 caused 9 deaths when two trains collided at a station in Ankara.
