13 people were injured in a collision on the North Marmara Highway in the direction of Ankara. The accident occurred when a minibus carrying a group of workers and a taxi collided near the town of Gebze (in the Turkish province of Kocaeli), some 65 km south of Istanbul; the force of the impact was such that both vehicles were severely damaged, injuring the 4 occupants of the taxi and 9 occupants of the minibus, who were taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital. According to statistics, more than 5,200 people died in traffic accidents in Turkey during the last year.
