Pollution in Istanbul increased by 9%

Pollution levels in Istanbul, which had been reduced during the pandemic, grew to 9% during 2022. The concentration of PM10 particles, which in 2021 averaged 38.2 micrograms per m3 of air, reached 41.5 last year, although in districts like Kadıköy peak concentrations of 97.6 µg/m3 were reached. The WHO considers that levels higher than 20 µg/m3 are harmful to health.
