The iconic Taksim Square in Istanbul hosted trade union celebrations on the occasion of May 1, Labor Day, on Friday, in which only a limited number of union representatives were able to participate due to the curfew in force because of the coronavirus. Despite this, some 45 people were detained in various districts of Istanbul for trying to organise marches and demonstrations.
